9 Amazing Brow Hacks

9 Ways to get Fab Brows

1. Be mindful of shaping.

Don’t create a shape that will create an elongated, droopy brow that will ultimately age your face. Brows are a wonderful feature and enhanced correctly can be game changing for a natural, easy and instant lift. Seriously, done properly they can take years off you. (Yes, I hear you. I like my brows this way – but we know all about brows) we promise you won’t regret it!

Tip: Ensure the tails don’t descend to far past the start of your bulbs (beginning of your brows to you). ;)

2. Take better care of them.

We all have a cleanser for removing our eye makeup and one to cleanser our face. Some of us even do the double cleanse (kudos to you) but not many of us really think about cleaning our brows properly.

If you don’t remove dead skin and excess oils from time to time your brows probably won’t be looking the best they could be.

Tip: Try exfoliating them once a week with a gentle natural exfoliating paste. Mix a teaspoon of soft brow sugar with some olive oil into a fairly runny paste and slather on your brows. Gentle, circular movements to get through the brows hair and lift excess skin cells and oil.

3. Be picky if choosing OTC goods.

Picking the wrong treatment can be irritating and not to mention costly. With DIY kits everywhere on the market it’s easier to see why people are thinking of the ££ they can save. But be aware that some over the counter products aren’t going to be quality products, so do your research. Are they suitable for your skin type? Do they come with good instructions? Do other people rate the product? If you’ve done some good research and you want to try it, good luck.

Tip: If you do opt for an over-the-counter product be sure to do a patch test. Never leave products on longer than the recommended time. You don’t want a nasty reaction due to over exposure!

4. Go to see a brow specialist.

Usually, a trained specialist will take one look at your skin and brows and know the score. They will probably ask about your goals, requirements and chances are they will know the best choices for you there and then. If you’ve done your research and booked an appointment, it’s highly likely that you’re in good hands. (Woohoo!) Microblading or powder brows could be the way to go, book a free consultation to find out more www.mandervilleaesthetics.co.uk

Tip: Find someone who’s work you like and be sure to tell them exactly the type of thing you’re looking for. Visual aids are good and help the artist get you the results you want but remember to be realistic and listen to the advice. Chances are they probably know more than you do about brows.

5. Leave the Tweezers alone.

One of the BEST ways to keep those brows looking amazing is to stop over doing it with the tweezers. Just one more, and then, oh wait that one needs to go too… before you know it your brows have done a Hudiny and it’s, yep, your fault. If you have to tweeze, do it with caution, please!

6. Use a caliper to check to length of both brows.

If you wanted to draw a perfectly straight line you wouldn’t draw it freehand, would you? So, if you want to get the most even brows possible, you should measure them! Callipers are used by professionals to ensure even brows are the same length and thickness. It isn’t hard to do and it will get your brows on point!

Tip: If you want to grow and fluff out the brows naturally use concealer on top and below the brow and apply it with an angle brush on its side (roughly 0.3mm). Any hairs that fall within the concealer margins- leave alone. If you want a more groomed, defined appearance but don’t want to over pluck the hairs then only remove the strays that obviously fall outside of the natural brow shape.

7. The 3 P’s - Pencil, Powder, Pom tips and tricks

o Use a very light flicking motions to keep it light and airy – build up the colour and density it layers. No heavy hand with the pencil please, unless you want to look like a wax work of course.

Being too heavy handed will create a colour that is dense and unnatural.

o Start from the centre and work your way out to the bulb and tail gently to avoid harsh lines on the top and bottom of the brows.

o Fill in the gaps – lightly and in layers for softer more natural look.

o Use the golden ratio to plot your brow points before you draw them in.

o Mix colours if you can’t find the right shade for you. Tip: choose ashier colours over warmer ones for a more natural look.

8. Apply castor oil the eyebrows before bedtime.

Use cold pressed castor oil to nourish the hair and hep with bald spots in the brows. The mixture is best applied after washing or cleaning your face. Or after gentle exfoliation.

Pregnant or lactating women shouldn’t use castor oil https://www.healthline.com/health/castor-oil-for-eyebrows#Is-there-research-to-support-using-castor-oil-on-your-eyebrows?
