Frequently asked questions

What is Microblading?

Microblading is a semi-permanent technique that sits under the cosmetic tattooing family. The use of a fine microblade is used to create hair-like strokes by implanting pigment into the basal layer of the dermis (the second of layer skin). At Manderville Aesthetics we use our very own ultra-fine, sterile, disposable microblades to ensure the health & Safety of each of our clients. Microblading and shading create the illusion of fullness and depth. This is a mix of manual or machine shading in areas of the brow that require more colour. Shading allows for buildable depth through a more compact application and deposit of pigment. Microbladed strokes are added at the front of the brow to create a hypo realistic result.

Am I a suitable candidate for microblading?

Microblading is suitable for most people however, skin type can affect the final results. As specialists we can advise you on whether or not you are suitable during your consultation. A consultation is required for every treatment and lasts approximately 30 minutes, they are also free. We offer a range of brow treatments, so if microblading is not suitable, we’ll let you know what would work best for your skin type.

How long should I expect microblading to last?

Microblading should last from 12 to 18 but we’ve seen results last as long as 36 months. A follow up consultation is recommended after 12 months to review the life of your brows and begin thinking about a top-up appointment. Each client results will vary depending but following the aftercare instructions will ensure you get the longest length of time with your new brows.

Why do I need a patch test for microblading?

To make sure you are not allergic to the pigment that will be used during the microblading procedure. A patch test is required for most treatments.

Does microblading affect hair growth?

No. Microblading and scalp micro-pigmentation are treatments that create the appearance of fullness and structure where hair should naturally be.

How we ensure your safety:

We use sterile, disposable, medical grade quality micro-blades. Our blades are single use, disposable and designed by us. Every client gets a brand new blade, opened in front of you, every time they visit. We also adhere to industry standards regarding cleaning and sanitising.

How many appointments are involved?

3 appointments are needed. Appointment 1: Consultation and patch test Appointment 2: First session of microblading (minimum of 48 hours between patch test and treatment) Appointment 3: Second session of microblading (approximately 4 to 6 weeks after the first appointment)

What if I am not suitable for microblading?

Henna or Powder Brows offer great results and might be suitable for you. This will be discussed in your consultation.

Is microblading painful?

If you’ve had a tattoo, it’s better than this. If you don’t know what a tattoo is like, it’s like a little scratch. We have numbing creams to remove the feeling. Our previous clients put the pain between a 2 and 3. They also refer to it as being mildly uncomfortable rather than painful.
